My first attempt today to coil a clear T profile 1mm x 22mm rubber seal length using the previous method, (see blog post ), was largely unsuccessful due to tearing while stitching ; this type of rubber is much more delicate and requires a different approach.
More successful was the coiling of this similar T profile rubber seal 8mm x 12 mm, which although hollow, was much thicker and subsequently more robust. The transition from the base to the sides was tricky due to the rubber’s complicated profile, with a tendency to flop inward. I probably need to review the technique but still a satisfying result: sturdy yet flexible, interesting texture and again, reversible!
