After a fruitful and fun time exploring and experimenting with materials and techniques, this research has allowed me to begin work on the installation.
I am taking some of the samples worked on over the past couple of weeks and developing them further through a fusion of techniques and materials.
Step one involved piercing the rubber coil at roughly 5cm intervals and inserting the same number of wire uprights/stakes, hooking each one round and securing it to the coil using a pair of bullnose pliers. This last segment of coil was fixed by wrapping as before but also adding extra stitching at each stake to help secure it.
Vessel 1
The blue electrical wire was the obvious choice for weaving, contrasting beautifully with the black rubber, pale yarn and silver stakes. At this point, the materials are dictating the shape and form of this vessel.
