Sunny bank mills Residency 2019

This project formed the bulk of my final module concluding my MA Creative Practice at Leeds Arts University.

Over several months I amassed a visual and auditory record of a wooded area next to the Archive at Sunny Bank Mills, in addition to foraging natural and found material used in the creation of a number of woven artefacts.

A series maps stored at the Archive [some dating back to the late 1800s] revealed the distinctive shapes of pre-existing mill ponds and inspired the colour palette of a series of mono prints giving context and meaning to this aspect of the project.

The audio component of this work was instrumental in evoking the site through its sounds. It provided a simple but effective interactive element within the concluding installation work.
